For the Layer shelf we designed a repetitional shape with feet on the bottom and slits at the top, which can be inserted into each other. Building the shelf in this way leaves a distinct detail where the parts meet and blend into one as well as accenting the individual units. We wanted to design a shelf that could easily be extended for many purposes without the use of any screws or overly dominant structural elements. Merely a stack of extruded lines, like a child’s drawing off a bookcase.
