Anna Serafin Interior Architects know how to do big things with small spaces. This apartment in Gdansk has been completely renovated on the inside, using high-quality woods and flat bricks throughout. The appliances have been updated to modernise and make the whole apartment much more energy efficient. Let's dive right in with the main living space!

Open it up

What has been done really well in here is the creation of an open plan, where kitchen, dining and living room are one, so a light airiness really rules the space.

The sky blue laminate at the back kitchen wall reflects light and adds a neat shine, while the white brick and oak floors make for a cosy, rustic atmosphere.

Bathroom wise

The use of a clear shower door, bright lighting options and a large circular wall mirror are working well to make this small bathroom feel big.

The shower is equipped with an in-shower seat to boot, and countertops have been completely redone in faux-granite stone, really upping the final appraisal of this apartment.

Snuggle up

The use of random plaid wallpapers break up and widen the space of the whole apartment, and in the bedroom, we see the same.

It is really a cheerful sleeping spot, with double overhead reading lamps in a sophisticated modern style and a royal purple accent colour theme for a little pop of regal style.

Bringing in the light

In this flat, it was essential for natural light to be optimised in order to open up the space.

Serafin has wisely chosen white as the mainstay colour for the entire flat – but it works especially well in the living room area, where the window's light glows well with the white walls and furniture. Shutting the translucent white curtains provides privacy without cutting off the daytime dazzle.

A simple entrance

We end this apartment tour by look at the entrance, which has been left unadorned compared to the rest of the apartment for good reason: since it's a small foyer, less is more. It features lots of storage and an oak cut-out which make the entrance clean, functional and inviting. The front door has been made with a strong rosewood slab – a virtuous wood for its characteristic high-shine and sturdiness.

Serafin has emphasised this apartment's homey appeal with small plant-themed decor throughout, so as not to overpower the space with a clutter of large decorations. If you are looking to upgrade a small space as well, and would like to see more, we recommend Casa Daniel e Claudio by Small In for more inspiration!
