This home in Milan was in need of a spruce-up, so Ghost Architects took to it with a London-inspired makeover, bringing a touch of British style to Italy!

The home includes a large open-plan living area and a small loft. New colours, new furniture, and new lights have completely transformed this space. The result is a contemporary and ever so stylish home that looks like it has stepped straight off the cover of a glossy magazine.

Let's step inside and take a look…

A full view

From this view, we can take in more of the living space and mezzanine. Plus, we get to see the beautiful stairwell, complete with a portal window at the landing. The staircase is simple, the only embellishment is in the form of natural timber treads.

The living area, too, is simple. The couch base merges with the kitchen island: it is a very clever and space effective solution. It is an innovative two-in-one with plenty of British charm!

The social heart of the home

In this shot, we get a slither of each of the spaces: the kitchen, the dining area, the living area, and a snippet of the mezzanine.

The kitchen steals the show; anchored to the stone-blue feature wall, it's an absolute treat! But, we'll take a closer look at that shortly.

Natural timbers abound, the rich hues of the dining furniture and the kitchen island are slightly differentiated from the flooring, while the ceiling paneling is painted white. The textures are divine – never too much, never too little – just perfect!

The exquisite kitchen

Now, it's high time we revisit that kitchen! What an absolute delight! It features a butchers tile splash back, rendered in grey to match the feature wall.

The cabinetry is minimal but absolutely divine: white surfaces are framed with a timber bench top and sides. The fittings and fixtures opt for an industrial, stainless-steel finish – bar the fridge, which is deliciously retro and oh-so-London!

The dining space

Again, it's hard to believe this home isn't in London – look at those windows! Painted black, they are sleek and edgy. The suspended bulbs over the dining table mirror those in the kitchen, and top off the chic aesthetic.

The living area re-visited

The living room is, unsurprisingly, pointed towards the television console. The arrangement is, however, very rational and sophisticated. Storage and shelving are designed and feel intentional rather than an after-thought.
